For Alabama RNs and LPNs whose licenses expire in 2024, a lapse in licensure not only means having to contact the board, but also the inability to continue practice nursing.
That’s why the Nursing CE Central team has created a full list of questions, CE requirements, last day to renew, and consequences of missing the deadline for the 2024 Alabama nursing license renewal period.
According to the Alabama Board of Nursing, any nurse who does not renew their license before 4:30pm on December 31, 2024 will have their license lapse. Nurses will “no longer be legally authorized to practice with a lapsed nursing license.”
Nurses must complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. 4 of the hours must be on the Alabama Nurse Practice Act provided by the Board of Nursing for those renewing for the first time. Nursing CE Central provides a link to this course in the bundle.
