What are the continuing education requirements for nurses in Pennsylvania?
All Pennsylvania RNs must complete 30 hours of continuing education for their biennial license renewal. Two of those hours must meet the child abuse recognition and reporting requirements.
Pennsylvania LPNs will only need to complete the 2-contact hour child abuse recognition and reporting course.

Yes, the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing accepts continuing education from Nursing CE Central for purposes of license renewal. We are an approved CE Provider per the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
When is the last day to renew my license with the state of Pennsylvania before my license becomes inactive?
For the 2024 Pennsylvania nursing license renewal period, nurses will receive a notice of renewal in the mail before the expiration date of their license.
Pennsylvania RNs will be split into two groups and will either need to renew their license by April 30, 2024, or October 31, 2024.
Pennsylvania LPNs will need to renew their nursing license by June 30, 2024.
It’s still your responsibility to renew your license if you don’t receive your renewal notice in the mail.
What happens if I don't renew my license before the deadline?
You won’t be able to practice nursing in Pennsylvania if your license expires due to missing your renewal deadline. You’ll need to have an active license issued to you to begin working again.
Nurses must submit a reactivation application through the Pennsylvania license portal. The reactivation application can be accessed by clicking on the pencil icon located beside the license number you need to reactivate once you are logged in. For more information on the reactivation process, visit https://www.dos.pa.gov/ProfessionalLicensing/BoardsCommissions/Nursing/Pages/Reactivation-Forms.aspx.
Can I practice nursing with an expired license?
No, in Pennsylvania you cannot practice nursing until you’ve obtained an active license.
How do I complete a course?
Once you enroll you will have access to all courses. To complete a course you read and learn the course materials, then testify that you have done so by clicking a button. Once this is complete your certificate will be issued.
Are the courses timed?
No. Users may complete the courses at their own pace. Nursing CE Central does not monitor your time spent in courses.
How do I access my certificates once a course is completed?
Your certificate will be instantly emailed to you once you complete a course. Additionally, it is available online for you to access at any time. We keep a record of your certificates for five years.
What is your refund policy?
