What are the CE requirements for nurses in Alabama?
Nurses are required to complete 24 contact hours of CE. Four of the 24 contact hours must be on the Alabama Nurse Practice Act provided by the board for those renewing for the first time. Nursing CE Central provides a link to this course in the renewal bundle.

Are tests required?
Yes. Nurses are required to take a test on the four contact hour Alabama Nurse Practice Act course to fulfill their CE requirement.
Does Alabama accept CE from Nursing CE central?
Yes, the Alabama Board of Nursing accepts CE from Nursing CE Central for purposes of license renewal.
Does Nursing CE Central submit proof of completed CEUs automatically to the Alabama Board of Nursing? Or will I have to manually do that myself?
As an Alabama Board of Nursing-approved CE provider, Nursing CE Central automatically reports all CEU completions directly to the Alabama Board of Nursing, making your renewal process as easy as possible.
When is the license renewal deadline?
The renewal deadline is 4:30 PM on December 31, 2024.
What happens if I miss the renewal deadline?
If you don’t renew by 4:30pm on December 31st, your license will be considered lapsed, and you cannot practice in the Alabama.
Can I work with a lapsed/inactive license?
No, you cannot continue to work until you reactivate your license.
How do I complete a course?
Once you enroll you will have access to all courses. To complete a course you read and learn the course materials, then testify that you have done so by clicking a button. Once this is complete your certificate will be issued.
How do I access my certificates once a course is completed?
Your certificate will be instantly emailed to you once you complete a course. Additionally, it is available online for you to access at any time. We keep a record of your certificates for five years.
Are the courses timed?
No. Users may complete the courses at their own pace. Nursing CE Central does not monitor your time spent in courses.
What is your refund policy?
Nursing CE Central is happy to offer you a refund if the courses do not meet your state licensing requirements.
