Here are the Alaska Nursing License Renewal Requirements
Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses
LVN/LPNs must compete 2 out of the 4 following methods below every 2 years.
- 320 hours of nursing employment
- 30 hours continuing education
- 30 hours of professional nursing activities
- Alternative Methods (nursing refresher course, degree or certificate in nursing or NCLEX)
Registered Nurses
RNs must compete 2 out of the 4 following methods below every 2 years.
- 320 hours of nursing employment
- 30 hours continuing education
- 30 hours of professional nursing activities
- Alternative Methods (nursing refresher course, degree or certificate in nursing or NCLEX)
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
APRNs must hold active RN License in good standing and comply with the following:
- Complete 30 contact hours
- 15 of those contact hours must be on advanced pharmacology and clinical management of drug therapy (For initial application prescriptive authority or if they were to add prescriptive authority and did not have it with their initial licensure)
- Current National Certification
- 2 Contact Hours in Pain Management and Opioid use and addiction (if current DEA registration and controlled substance authority)
