Course Overview

This course is designed for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) who are seeking to better understand the medical diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults. The course will review the etiology, diagnosis, treatment options, self-management strategies, evidence-based practice, and research supporting the management of adult ADHD. The nurse will be prepared to assess, review diagnoses, and care for Adults with ADHD and improve patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Course Outcomes

After completing this course, the learner will rate a 4 out of 5 on the Likert Scale for their ability to:

  1. Recite key characteristics of Adult ADHD, including factors that impact diagnosis. 
  2. Understand diagnostic criteria for ADHD in adults, including screenings and assessments. 
  3. Describe treatment options for adults with ADHD, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological.  
  4. Discuss research findings related to adult ADHD and barriers to applying clinical practices.
