Course Overview

Basic Ventilator Management

Author: Abbie Schmitt
RN, MSN

With the COVID pandemic, many nurses that normally wouldn’t care for patients on a ventilator became exposed to them fast as ICU beds filled up and bed assignments had to be restructured. Most nurses outside of the ICU lack a basic understanding of how ventilators work, types of settings and what to look out for. Nurses in Long-Term Care or Rehab Settings may already be exposed to ventilators but desire more knowledge.
