Bladder Dysfunction in Multiple Sclerosis

Contact Hours: 2

Author(s):

Pamela Halvorson, RN, BS, MBA

Course Overview

Intended for nurses at all levels, this course will explain the correlation between the central nervous system lesions caused by multiple sclerosis (MS) and bladder dysfunction (caused by the interference in the transmission of signals between the brain and the urinary system leading to a disruption in the normal bladder process). The treatment can vary depending on the type of dysfunction the client is experiencing. Although there are many symptoms of MS, the effect on the bladder is one of the most common. Bladder dysfunction in clients with MS has potentially serious complications and can diminish the quality of life.
