Course Overview

As nurses we are responsible for taking care of our patients in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner. Due to our own personal biases and/or lack of knowledge, transgender patients face a lot of discrimination in health care settings. Most nurses are not trained to care for this population, further creating health inequities for these patients.

In this course we will discuss important concepts such as discrimination, implicit bias, how to use gender-affirming language and more. The goal is to better prepare nurses to provide high quality care to this underserved population.
