Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder and is actually classified as a mental health disorder. Without early identification and prompt treatment, this mental health disorder has a high mortality rate, due to medical complications and heightened risks of suicidal tendencies. Eating disorders has been reported worldwide, in both males and females, of all age groups (1). Nursing professionals are essential members of the healthcare team, in identifying patients with suspected eating disorders. They are in a pivotal position to provide the necessary guidance, care and support to this vulnerable patient population, and positively influence healthcare outcomes (2). This course is designed for LPN/LVNs, RNs, and APRNs.
