Course Overview

This course is designed to provide the nursing professional with a better understanding of the importance of caregiver education regarding the administration of enteral feedings. Indications for enteral feeds will be reviewed, followed by a thorough description of the preparation process and how it relates to the patient, supplies, formula, and method. Following this, post-feeding care, potential complications, and instructions for emergency care will be reviewed. Finally, in addition to some troubleshooting and additional tips to ensure adequate, safe, and effective enteral feeding, information will be provided to guide the caregiver to appropriate support groups and resources.
