Ketamine in Depression Management

Contact Hours: 1

Author(s):

Abbie Schmitt, RN, MSN

Course Overview

Ketamine has been mainly used as an anesthetic, but in 2019 the FDA approved a nasal spray version (Esketamine) which can be used for the management of depression that has been resistant to other treatments. The nasal spray can only be administered in a doctor’s office or clinic, leading to an increase in ketamine clinics. What do Nurses need to know? What education do they need to provide to their patients? This course will cover all that and more.
