Course Overview

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke every year. Strokes may occur at any age, although the risk of a stroke increases with age. This single neurological event is the leading cause of long-term disability, and heightens the risk of additional health complications, often in conjunction with the long-term burdens of rising medical costs, decreased quality of life, and shortened life spans. This course will overview various neurological assessments and discuss treatment options, as well as prevention strategies for future stroke risk reduction.
