Course Overview

This course will provide an in-depth exploration of rheumatic heart disease (RHD), a severe and chronic condition resulting from untreated or repeated episodes of rheumatic fever. Participants will learn about the pathophysiology, epidemiology, and clinical management of RHD, with a particular focus on its prevalence in low- and middle-income countries. The course will also cover strategies for prevention and control, including the importance of early diagnosis and continuous management to mitigate severe complications such as heart failure and valvular disease.
