Course Overview

This course provides nurses with a comprehensive understanding of the differences between right and left-sided strokes, focusing on pathophysiology, symptoms, and nursing care for each type of stroke. Learners will review how to perform stroke assessments, identify which side of the brain is affected, and implement appropriate interventions. Course Outcomes

After completing this course, the learner will rate a 4 out of 5 on the Likert Scale for their ability to:

  1. Explain the differences between ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
  2. Differentiate between the effects of right and left-sided strokes in terms of motor function, sensory, and cognition deficits.
  3. Apply nursing interventions for ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes.
  4. Develop individualized rehabilitation plans, including physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST) based on the side and severity of the stroke.
