Course Overview
Author: Molina Allen, MSN, RN, CCRN
An elevated body temperature can have detrimental effects on neurological health in the presence of an ischemic stroke. Peak temperatures, whether at the onset of the event or several days later, indicate poor outcomes and are associated with a greater size of infarct area. Targeted temperature management offers neuro-protective benefits by reducing the risk of ischemic tissue injury due to insufficient blood flow.
