Course Overview
In this course, we will cover a variety of nursing topics pertinent to and required by the Texas Board of Nursing, which are listed in the course outline below. This course is appropriate for APRNs, RNs, and LPNs. Upon completion of this single module, you will receive a certificate for 20 contact hours.
This bundle meets all of the Texas Board of Nursing requirements, which require nurses to complete 20 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years and 1 continuing education course on Human Trafficking that the Texas Health and Human Services department approves.

Course Outcomes
After completing this course, the learner will rate a 4 out of 5 on the Likert Scale for their ability to:
- Understand the information related to the Nursing Practice Act of Texas.
- Understand sexual assault as a public health problem and its impact on the state of Texas.
- Identify human trafficking first and form factors, clinical settings where trafficked persons may be encountered, and the clinical indicators of trafficking.
- Recognize how to identify and analyze quality improvement opportunities.
- Understand ways to prevent workplace violence towards nurses.
- Recognize the importance of the many telemetry devices used and identify how these devices impact patient care.
- Identify the many risk factors for Heart Failure and learn about newer medications and treatments
- Summarize the nurse’s legal obligation as a “mandatory reporter” of suspected abuse.
