This course is intended for nurses at all levels and will describe the process of vestibular rehabilitation and how it is used following strokes. The assessment, various therapy modalities, risks and benefits of vestibular rehabilitation will be discussed along with projections for how future advancements may change how it is delivered.

Course Outcomes

After completing this course, the learner will rate a 4 out of 5 on the Likert Scale for their ability to:

  1. List assessments of a client’s symptoms of vestibular dysfunction following a stroke.
  2. Explain how to integrate the vestibular rehabilitation therapy process into a client’s daily living situation to assure ongoing participation.
  3. Describe how to assess the client’s safety to participate in the process on an ongoing basis whether in a facility or private home.
  4. Summarize how to develop a therapy care plan with frequency and duration of treatments that will adequately provide time needed to see progress in the client’s vestibular dysfunction.
