Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses
- LVN/LPNs are required to complete 36 contact hours of Continuing Education every 3 years.
- 2 of the 36 contact hours must be on Identification and Reporting of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse if you regularly examine, attend, counsel, or treat children or dependent adults.
- This Mandatory Reporter Course is offered by the Iowa Department of Human Services and can be found here.
Registered Nurses

- APRNs are required to maintain their certification.
- APRNs are required to complete a course on Identification and Reporting of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse if you regularly examine, attend,
counsel, or treat children or dependent adults.- This Mandatory Reporter Course is offered by the Iowa Department of Human Services and can be found here.
- APRNs with prescriptive authority are required to complete 2 contact hours each renewal cycle on opioid prescribing.
- APRNs that supervise fluoroscopy procedures must complete annual training.
