LPN to RN Programs: Why Accreditation matters
Accreditation matters! When a school is accredited, it ensures they are providing you with quality education and skills to perform your future duties as a nurse. Many Boards of Nursing require diplomas from accredited nursing programs to apply for licensure. Many jobs also may require diplomas from accredited nursing programs as well for hire.
What can an RN do that an LPN cannot?
There is quite a difference in the scope of practice of an LPN and an RN. RNs hold much more responsibility and autonomy than an LPN. RNs perform physical exams and assessments, diagnostic tests can administer blood products, chemotherapy drugs, and more.
Higher Salary
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for an RN in 2020 was $75,330 per year. The median pay for LPNs was $48,820 per year – a difference of over $25,000 per year.
