1. What are the continuing education requirements for the 2025 Arkansas nursing license renewal? 

RNs and LPNs can choose to complete one of the following methods to renew their license every two years: 

  • 15 contact hours of continuing education. 
  • Certification or recertification by a national certifying body. 
  • Completion of a recognized academic course in nursing or a related field.

APRNs are required to complete the following continuing competence requirements every two years:

  • Two of the five pharmacotherapeutics hours must be on maintaining professional boundaries and the prescribing rules, regulations, and laws that apply to APRNs in Arkansas.

2. Is Nursing CE Central an Arkansas Board of Nursing-approved provider?

Yes! Courses from Nursing CE Central are approved and accepted by the Arkansas Board of Nursing. 

3. How can I renew my license with the Arkansas Board of Nursing this year?

Arkansas nurses can renew their license online through the Arkansas Nurse Portal. The RN renewal fee is $100. The LPN renewal fee is $90. The APRN renewal fee is $165, which includes the RN renewal fee.

4. Can I renew new and complete my CEUs later?

No. You must complete all required CEUs prior to renewal. 

5. Am I required to complete a test for my Arkansas CE requirements?

No. 

6. Does Nursing CE Central automatically submit proof of completed CEUs to CE Broker?

The renewal process may take seven to 10 business days, but you can check the status of your application through the Arkansas Nurse Portal.

You must renew your license on or before your birthday every two years. Your renewal period begins 60 days before the expiration, and you will receive a reminder from the Board of Nursing. 

10. What happens if I don’t renew my license before its current expiration date?

If you do not renew your license on or before its expiration date, your license will lapse, and you will not be able to practice in the state of Arkansas.
