 The Colorado Board of Nursing does not require LPNs or RNs to complete continuing education activities at this time.

2. When is the 2025 Colorado nursing license renewal deadline?
RN and APRN licenses expire on Sept. 30 of odd or even-numbered years, depending on when the license was issued.Â

 You can check the status of your renewal through the Colorado Division of Professions and Occupations Online Services Portal.Â
4. What happens if I don’t renew my license before its current expiration date?
Colorado has a 60-day grace period after the license expiration date to renew your license. Failure to renew during this time will result in your license being inactive and you cannot practice nursing in the state of Colorado. You will then have to apply online for reinstatement.
Reinstatement applications require fingerprinting and background check submission prior to beginning the application. There are no education requirements if your license has been inactive for less than five years.Â
