The 2025 Delaware nursing license renewal requirements exist for good reason. Our nurses must keep up as best practices evolve, so they are empowered to provide the highest level of care for their patients.Â
However, we know you are facing burnout, staffing shortages and the high demands of a complex healthcare system. Nursing CE Central offers quick, effective courses that earn Delaware nursing CEUs.Â
You must complete all continuing education requirements prior to applying for renewal. Failure to do so may result in a delay in your renewal status.
1. What are the continuing education requirements for the 2025 Delaware nursing license renewal?Â
RNs are required to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years. Three of the contact hours must be on substance abuse
LPNs must complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every two years, including three hours on substance abuse.
Nursing CE Central’s Delaware Renewal Bundle includes LPN license renewal CE and RN license renewal CE.Â
APRNs are required to maintain their national certification and meet the qualifications to renew their RN license.Â
APRNs with prescriptive authority must complete the three-hour hour substance abuse requirement for their RN license to fulfill their CSR requirement.Â
Nursing CE Central’s Pharmacology Bundle includes APRN license renewal CE. Â
2. Is Nursing CE Central a Delaware Board of Nursing-approved provider?
Yes! We are an ANCC and Delaware Board of Nursing approved provider of continuing education.Â
3. How can I renew my license with the Delaware Board of Nursing this year?
Delaware nurses can renew their license through the state’s Division of Professional Regulation website. Initial application fee for LPNs, RNs and APRNs is $181. You’ll be notified of the renewal fee amount at the time of renewal, according to the DPR.Â
4. Can I renew now and complete my CEUs later?
No. You must complete all continuing education requirements prior to applying for renewal. Failure to do so may result in a delay in your renewal status.
5. Am I required to complete a test or quiz for my Delaware CE requirements?
No. You can easily complete your CE requirements with just one click.Â
6. Does Nursing CE Central automatically submit proof of completed CEUs to the Delaware BON, or will I have to manually do that myself?
Yes. The Delaware Board of Nursing requires nurses to enter all CE activities in the CE Tracker in your online portal. You do not have to upload certificates; you will only enter the title of the activity, number of CE, and other pertinent information.
7. Do I have to keep documentation proving I completed my 2025 continuing education requirements for renewal?
Yes. Delaware requires that you keep a personal record of your certificates of completion in case of an audit. If you are chosen to be audited, you will have to upload your certificates in DELPROS.Â
8. How can I check that my renewal application is complete?
You can check the status of your application at the DELPROS website. The renewal process may take seven to 10 business days.
9. How can I get my license active again if I missed the renewal deadline?
You will have to complete a reinstatement application through the online portal, along with a criminal background check. The cost for LPN, RN, and APRN reinstatement is $272.Â
10. Can I still work if I miss my renewal deadline?
If you do not renew on time your license may lapse or expire. If your license expires, you cannot practice as a nurse. You can file a late renewal within two months after the expiration date but cannot practice. If you do not renew within this two-month window, your license will be terminated, and you will have to complete a reinstatement application.Â
