1. What are the continuing education requirements for the 2025 Idaho nursing license renewal?Â
There are no license renewal CE requirements for LPNs or RNs.
APRNs must maintain an active RN license and their national certification, in addition to completing 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years. Ten of the 30 hours must be on pharmacology for those with prescriptive authority. Â

2. When is the 2025 Idaho nursing license renewal deadline?
LPNs have until Aug. 31, 2026, to renew their license. RNs and APRNs have until Aug. 31, 2025, to renew their licenses.
The renewal fee for LPNs, RNs, and APRNs is $90.Â
If you do not renew by these dates, your license will automatically become inactive. Â
3. How can I renew my license with the Idaho Board of Nursing this year?
You can renew your license online through the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses website. The state is in the process of implementing a new licensing system. The first phase is live, and Phase 2 will be available beginning Nov. 4, 2024.Â
4. How can I check that my renewal application is complete?
You can check your application status online on the nurse portal. Allow seven to 10 business days for the board to process your application.Â
5. What happens if I don’t renew my license before its current expiration date?
If you fail to renew your license on time, it will become inactive, and you cannot practice nursing in Idaho until it’s reinstated.
There is a $153.25 fee for reinstatement and applicants must undergo a background check and fingerprint testing. The fingerprint processing fee is included in the $153.25 amount. You can apply for reinstatement on the nurse portal.  Â
