Does Washington accept continuing education from Nursing CE central?
Yes, the Washington Board of Nursing accepts continuing education from Nursing CE Central for purposes of license renewal.
What are the continuing education requirements for nurses in Washington?
All active LPNs and RNs are required to complete 8 hours of continuing education yearly for the Washington state nursing license renewal.
Nurses are also required to complete a mandatory one-time Suicide Prevention Training Requirement. Those nurses working in telehealth setting must also complete a nursing telemedicine training requirement. These hours can count toward your CE hours.
Effective December 22nd, 2023, Nurses will be required to complete 2 hours on health equity every year when renewing.
(Nursing CE Central’s 2024 Washington State Renewal Bundle includes all of these required courses. The telemedicine training is also available in a separate course.)
When is the last day to renew my license with the state of Washington, before my license becomes inactive?
You are required to renew annually by your birthday to remain in active status.
What happens if I don't renew my license before the deadline?
If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, you will not be able to renew online. A delay in processing time may affect your active licensure status. All nurses who miss their renewal deadline will have to pay a $50 late fee.
How do I complete a course?
Once you enroll you will have access to all courses. To complete a course you read and learn the course materials, then testify that you have done so by clicking a button. Once this is complete your certificate will be issued.
Are tests required?
No. The Washington Board of Nursing does not require that tests be taken in order to issue certificates. We do not feel that tests are an efficient use of nurses’ time. Therefore, we do not require tests. You simply need to read the material and certify you have learned the material with one click.
Are the courses timed?
No. Users may complete the courses at their own pace. Nursing CE Central does not monitor your time spent in courses.
How do I access my certificates once a course is completed?
Your certificate will be instantly emailed to you once you complete a course. Additionally, it is available online for you to access at any time. We keep a record of your certificates for five years.
What is your refund policy?
Nursing CE Central is happy to offer you a refund if the courses do not meet your state licensing requirements.
