What are the CE requirements for nurses in West Virginia?
RNs are required to complete 12 hours of CE during each renewal period. Of the 12 hours, 3 of them must be on drug diversion training (one time requirement). Nursing CE Central’s 2024 West Virginia Renewal Bundle includes all required courses for RNs.
LPNs are required to complete 24 hours of CE every two years. Of the 24 hours:
- 2 of the hours must be on mental health conditions common to veterans and their families.
- 3 of the hours must be on substance abuse.
- 2 of the hours must be on end-of-life care (one-time requirement).
Please confirm directly with the WV Board of Examiners for LPNs to verify if you must report CE this year if you are unsure. Their email is [email protected].
Are tests required?
No. The West Virginia Board of Nursing does not require that tests be taken in order to issue certificates. We do not feel that tests are an efficient use of nurses’ time. Therefore, we do not require tests. You simply need to read the material and certify you have learned the material with one click.
Does West Virginia accept continuing education from Nursing CE central?
Yes, both the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses and the West Virginia Board of Registered Nurses accept CE from Nursing CE Central for purposes of license renewal.
When is the license renewal deadline?
RNs must renew by October 31st, 2024. LPNs must renew by June 30, 2024.
What happens if I don't renew my license on time?
If you don’t renew by the deadline, then your license will lapse and you won’t be able to practice nursing.
Can I work with a lapsed license?
No. You cannot practice until your license is active. If you practice with a lapsed/expired license you may be subject to penalty fees.
How do I complete a course?
Once you enroll you will have access to all courses. To complete a course you read and learn the course materials, then testify that you have done so by clicking a button. Once this is complete your certificate will be issued.
How do I access my certificates once a course is completed?
Your certificate will be instantly emailed to you once you complete a course. Additionally, it is available online for you to access at any time. We keep a record of your certificates for five years.
Are the courses timed?
No. Users may complete the courses at their own pace. Nursing CE Central does not monitor your time spent in courses.
What is your refund policy?
Nursing CE Central is happy to offer you a refund if the courses do not meet your state licensing requirements.
