The 2025 Utah nursing license renewal requirements exist for good reason. Our nurses must keep up as best practices evolve, so they are empowered to provide the highest level of care for their patients.Â
However, we know you are facing burnout, staffing shortages and the high demands of a complex healthcare system. Nursing CE Central offers quick, effective courses that earn Utah nursing CEUs.Â
Utah does not require nurses to complete a test to earn CE. Nursing CE Central’s Utah Renewal Bundles do not require any test taking.Â
1. What are the continuing education requirements for the 2025 Utah nursing license renewal?Â
LPNs and RNs must meet Utah’s Continuing Competency requirements to renew their license. There are three options to meet this requirement, but most nurses choose to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education from an approved provider (such as Nursing CE Central).Â
LPNs and RNs also must complete at least one online suicide prevention training course, which qualifies for CE credit.
Nursing CE Central’s Utah Renewal Bundle includes LPN license renewal CE and RN license renewal CE.  Â
APRNs must meet Utah’s Continuing Competency requirements to renew their license. There are two options available to meet this requirement, but most nurses choose to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education from an approved provider (such as Nursing CE Central) and 400 hours of practice. Â
If you have a license to prescribe controlled substances, at least four hours of continuing education must be about controlled substance prescribing. Three-and-a-half hours of approved controlled substance education and one-half hour from the Utah Division of Professional Licensing’s online controlled substance tutorial must be completed.Â
APRNs must also complete at least one of the following online suicide prevention trainings listed here.
Nursing CE Central’s Utah APRN Bundle includes APRN license renewal CE.  Â
