The Washington DC Board of Nursing requires RNs to complete 24 hours of continuing education. Two of the 24 contact hours must be on LGBTQ topics. Three of the 24 contact hours must be on Public Health topics listed here.
LPNs are required to complete 18 hours of continuing education. Two of the 18 contact hours must be on LGBTQ topics or cultural awareness. Three of the 18 contact hours must be on Public Health topics listed here.
APRNs are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education. 15 of the 24 contact hours must be on pharmacology related to specialty. Two of the 24 contact hours must be on LGBTQ topics. Three of the 24 contact hours must be on Public Health topics listed here.
RNs, LPNs and APRNs must renew their license every two years.
