Details and FAQs
What is the benefit of writing courses for NCC?
  • Showcase yourself as a leader to the nursing world. Any nurse who takes your course will recognize you as an expert.
  • Resume building. It is a great way to bulk up your resume and showcase your ability to create educational content. Pro tip: After we publish your first course, add “Nursing CE Published Author” to your resume.
  • Get experience writing continuing education. There is a huge CE industry, and the need for authors is there! It can be a great source of supplemental income.
  • Depending on your State Board of Nursing or National Certification, you may be able to claim writing CE courses as a continuing competence requirement towards your licensure/certification renewal.
  • All CE courses are presented via online self-paced modules. You do not need to present anything – just write the content and we take care of the rest!
What can I write about?

Nursing CE Central has a variety of topics to choose from! We develop our course topics based on nurses’ feedback and current trends in nursing. Course Topics are posted on this page and updated frequently, so if you don’t see a topic that you like, please check back later.

How long does the course need to be?

This varies. We use the Mergener Formula to calculate contact hours which factors in the word count, number of questions, and the level of difficulty of the course. We explain how this works in our Writers Guide.

How much will I make per course?

Nursing CE Central’s CE Course Rates:

  • Standard Courses: $250/contact hour
  • State-Required & Pharmacology Courses: $300/contact hour

Rates may vary depending on the course subject and deadlines.

How does payment work? When will I get paid?

Submitted courses will be reviewed within 14 days of submission. We may sometimes ask you to make additions or revisions to the content if it does not meet our requirements. Once the course meets all guidelines outlined in our Nursing CE Central’s Writers Guide, the course will be published, and the author will be paid. Payment will be sent within five (5) business days, following publishing, to the author’s pre-selected method of payment.

How many courses can I submit?

Nurse authors may submit an unlimited number of courses, however, there is no guarantee that an entry will be accepted and published. Payment is dependent on the publishing, not submission of a course.

Authors are required to apply to write each course topic that they wish to write. Once the application has been submitted, we will review and notify you via email if it has been approved. After approval, you can begin writing! You will generally have 21 days to write and submit the course.

Can I submit courses that I've previously written for other entities?

No, Nursing CE Central will not accept courses that you have written for other entities. We will only accept original work from our authors.

Can I submit courses that promote a product or service?

No, Nursing CE Central will not accept your course submission if you have a relevant financial relationship with, or in any way promote an ineligible company. An ineligible company includes:

  • Company that produces, markets or sells health care goods or services that are used by or on patients;
  • Is owned by an organization that produces, markets or sells health care goods;
  • Promotes the use of products/services of commercial interest

Nursing CE Central’s courses are an educational resource, not an opportunity to promote services or goods.
